Overview:
An established, innovation-focused contract manufacturer is seeking a Business Development Director to support its expansion in the small molecule development space, particularly focusing on new chemical entities (NCEs). This remote position is ideal for a commercially driven individual with technical roots and a strong track record of success in the CDMO sector.

The role centers on identifying and securing new partnerships with biotech and pharma companies across Europe and globally, with full autonomy to drive strategic growth. Travel will be required to engage with clients and attend key industry events.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive commercial growth by identifying and converting new business opportunities in drug substance manufacturing, particularly for NCE projects.

  • Manage the complete sales lifecycle—from prospecting and qualification to contract negotiation and closing.

  • Build and sustain long-term relationships with stakeholders across the biopharma development landscape.

  • Act as a commercial bridge between clients and internal teams, ensuring alignment with technical and operational capabilities.

  • Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and business development meetings.

  • Deliver market insights and help shape commercial strategy through competitive intelligence and client feedback.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience in a CDMO, with a strong focus on small molecule APIs.

  • Solid understanding of drug development pipelines, particularly early-phase NCE programs.

  • Degree-qualified in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life science field.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.

  • Comfortable with European and occasional global travel (approx. 25–50%).

  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
